WHAT DOES A “WELLNESS vacation” even look like? Sometimes it’s hiking through Costa Rican rainforest before soaking in a volcanic thermal river. Other times it’s checking into a desert spa in Arizona for a sunrise yoga class and a restorative massage, or wandering centuries-old Mediterranean cities before returning to a quiet balcony at sea. For the 2026 Women’s Health Travel Awards, our editors traveled the globe to find the places that make those moments possible.

Fitness Director Jacqueline Andriakos checked into legendary wellness retreats, Beauty Director Brian Underwood tested spa treatments across the Caribbean and both U.S. coasts, and our team—including contributor Kristine Thomason—found destinations that work for every type of traveler: solo trippers, bachelorette crews, and active families alike. The winners ahead span restorative retreats, fitness-forward hotels, and cruises made for mind-body resets. Wellness travel can look like all sorts of things—it just has to leave you feeling better than when you left home.
