I’ve tested more bras than I can count as a style writer. And over the years, I’ve learned that comfort is a nonnegotiable—if it digs, pinches, or rides up, it doesn’t deserve a space in my drawer. The thing is, no two boobs are exactly alike (not even your own). One might sit higher, be fuller, or have a different shape than the other. So finding the right bra isn’t about hitting a standard size—it’s about understanding your body. According to Dr. Navya Mysore, MD, a primary care physician and Women’s Health advisor, the right bra boosts comfort, improves posture, and eases back pain by evenly distributing breast tissue. If your band rides up, your straps slide, or your underwire doesn’t lie flat, it’s a clear sign something’s off.

Most Comfortable Bras

And if your usual size suddenly stops working? Totally normal. Bra fitter and undergarment educator Kimmay Caldwell says weight changes, hormone shifts, or your monthly cycle can impact your size. To make it trickier, some brands still use outdated sizing methods (like the “plus four” rule), while others go by your exact underbust. Bottom line: your size can change and vary between clothing brands.

All of that can make bra shopping feel like a bit of a minefield, which is exactly why I tested 20 different styles across fits, fabrics, and support levels to find the ones that are actually worth your money. These six passed the wear test and then some, proving that comfort, support, and style actually can exist in one bra.

Pros

  • Comes in 99 different sizes
  • Doesn’t make your boobs look bigger than they need to
  • Lifts and separates

Cons

  • Not the most supportive

A bra should fit your body—not the other way around—and Knix totally got the memo with this one. It feels snug at first, but it softens and molds to your shape with every wear. What really impressed me was the fit because it almost feels custom, thanks to the ultra-thin foam that contours without adding volume.

Plus, the sleek fabric (a nylon-spandex blend) moves with you, feeling super smooth against the skin and breathable enough to wear for hours.

If you're after definition without the discomfort, this wire-free option def delivers. The molded cups lift and separate, while subtle side padding helps prevent spillage and sideboob. The result? A natural shape, no extra bulk, and no awkward lines under tighter tops. And with 99 sizes (!!) and eight colors, the options are actually inclusive.

The only downside? It’s not the best for high movement and workouts. I find myself adjusting it when I bend or move quickly. Still, for everyday comfort and a super flattering fit, this one’s a standout.

Essentials Sweetheart Wireless Contour Bra

Pros

  • Wire-free comfort with impressive support
  • Smooth, flattering silhouette
  • Comfortable fit that stays in place

Cons

  • Might not be supportive enough for larger busts

If you love the shape and support of a traditional bra but can't stand the feel of underwire, the Shapermint Essentials Sweetheart Wireless Contour Bra is your happy medium. It delivers a surprisingly lifted, rounded silhouette without a single wire digging into your ribs, making it my top pick for anyone who wants all-day comfort.

The lightly contoured foam cups provide just enough structure to prevent the dreaded uniboob, while the wide, stretchy band stays comfortably in place without pinching or rolling. The smooth, buttery fabric feels soft against the skin and disappears nicely under T-shirts and other fitted tops.

I was especially impressed by how supportive it feels for a wireless bra. It lifts and shapes without feeling restrictive, and the wider straps help distribute weight so your shoulders don't pay the price after hours of wear. It's one of those bras you forget you're wearing—which is pretty much the highest compliment I can give.

Pros

  • Soft underwire via stretch crochet lace fabric
  • Straps are easy to adjust
  • Comes in many different styles

Cons

  • Straps can dig in

Push-up bras with underwires have a bad rep, and for good reason. They’re usually stiff, pokey, and downright uncomfortable. But after wearing this Maidenform bra for months (yes, months), I can confidently say it’s a major exception to the rule.

From the start, this bra felt different. The underwire doesn’t dig or jab, thanks to its soft, stretchy crochet lace that moves with you. The cups are unpadded but still offer that ideal medium support and lift, enough to give shape and a gentle push-up effect, but never so much that I feel squeezed or overly sculpted. It’s supportive without being suffocating, which is rare in the world of push-ups.

And let’s talk about the straps. They’re fully adjustable and convertible, so whether I’m going for a classic or criss-cross fit, I can tweak the style to match my outfit. That kind of versatility makes it feel like you’re getting two bras in one (and who doesn’t love a multitasker?).

The lift it gives is subtle but effective. It’s not the dramatic “hello, cleavage” kind of push-up, but more of a natural, perky boost that works under everything from tees to low-cut dresses. No spillage, just a flattering shape that makes me feel more confident in whatever I’m wearing. Bonus points for the range of styles: it comes in smooth fabric options to wear under clingy tees, and lace versions for when you want to have a little more fun.

One of my biggest bra fears? The dreaded back and side bulge. But this bra’s smoothing side panels genuinely help—there’s no weird digging or over-compression, just a smooth, flattering fit that doesn’t fight with your body. Long story short: I tested it, I lived in it, and I’m keeping it in my regular rotation.

Pros

  • No wires
  • Fabric molds to your body
  • Provides a great balance between comfort and support

Cons

  • Does stretch out after a while

As someone who hates wearing bras (the wires, the bulk, the digging), this is the one I wear most. Made for fuller busts (DD+), the Cosabella Evolution Curvy Bralette lifts and shapes with lightly molded cups, no wires necessary.

“It’s the only bralette I’ve found that can actually support my chest without feeling restrictive,” says style contributor Lily Wohlner. The soft, stretchy fabric, made from a smooth microfiber that consists of 85 percent polyamide and 15 percent elastane, molds to your body, starting snug and quickly adapting for a custom-like fit. “I will say, mine have stretched a bit over the past few years, so it might be time to re-up,” she says.

This bra provides exceptional support for larger busts, even without a heavy-duty wire band. Instead, it makes use of an elasticized band that provides a surprisingly large amount of support without digging into the skin. It also has extra support at the sides to prevent spillage—and to keep everything looking seamless, even under thin t-shirts and tight dresses.

The adjustable straps and underband stay put, and the side coverage smooths everything out—no spillage, no weird lines under shirts. It gives a natural, rounded shape that works under pretty much anything.

Cuup The Scoop

Pros

  • Fully adjustable
  • Naturally lifts and shapes
  • Offers nice coverage

Cons

  • Runs a bit small

If you tend to scoop the girls into place to make them look perkier (a good trick!), this Cuup bra does the work for you. The rounded neckline and unlined, unpadded cups naturally lift and shape, while seamlessly extending into the straps for clean lines and a flattering fit.

It runs snug, but that’s what makes it so supportive—my boobs stay put and look perkier without any adjusting. The underwire is super lightweight and flexible, so there’s zero digging or poking there. I also love that the cups are unlined, because it makes the bra feel super lightweight and barely there.

The bra is made from a microfiber blend of polyamide and elastane, so it’s buttery-smooth, stretches with you while keeping its shape, and is ultra-breathable. It’s great for warm days since it feels like next to nothing on the skin and helps wick moisture away. The microfiber is also great for pairing with thin or tight tops, since it's basically undetectable under clothing—no lines in sight.

The straps are fully adjustable for a customizable lift, and even though the cups are thin, they still offer enough coverage to prevent any chilly-day surprises, IYKYK. Since the cups run a bit small, sizing up might be your best bet for full coverage.

Most Comfortable Bra for Lift and Side Support

Honeylove CrossOver Bra

Pros

  • Seamless under clothing
  • Snug, supportive fit
  • Smooths bulging at the sides and back

Cons

  • Runs a little bit big

The Honeylove CrossOver Bra is ultra-comfortable, smoothing, and supportive. The nylon and spandex blend feels soft and wearable for hours without digging into your skin while providing a completely seamless silhouette from every angle. I always wear this pick under thinner tops, tight dresses, and clingy sweaters because it creates a totally streamlined look under clothes while lifting the girls and supporting the underarm area and sides.

Plus, the bonded cradle under the bust mimics the structure of an underwire, delivering firm support without any poking or pinching. The full mesh overlay adds light compression and lift, adding to the sleek look.

“The CrossOver bra feels like a sports bra on, which is especially handy for women in search of something extra-comfortable (hi),” says contributor Korin Miller, who wore this bra every day for nearly a month to see how well it performed. She appreciates the flexible boning at the sides of the cups to prevent sideboob and bulging.

This bra also has one of the widest size ranges on our list, which is a major win. However, it does run a little big, so if you're between sizes, consider sizing down for the best fit.

Best Lace Bra for Large Breasts

Best Lace Bra for Large Breasts

Bravissimo Millie Bra

Pros

  • Excellent support for fuller busts
  • Soft, comfortable stretch lace
  • Pretty, feminine design

Cons

  • Not available for cup sizes smaller than a D

Finding a lace bra that's actually comfortable—especially if you have a larger bust—can feel like a tall order, but the Bravissimo Millie Bra proves you don't have to sacrifice support for something pretty. It's my top pick for fuller busts thanks to its soft stretch lace cups, which mold to your shape for a flexible, barely-there feel instead of digging in or gaping.

Unlike stiff, scratchy lace bras, this one feels surprisingly comfortable from the first wear. The unpadded cups hug your breasts without adding bulk, while the stretchy lace adapts to your natural shape for a fit that feels supportive without being restrictive. The delicate floral lace also gives it an elevated, feminine look that's pretty enough to show off under a slightly unbuttoned blouse or low-cut top.

Meanwhile, the side sling creates a naturally lifted, forward shape, and if you wear a JJ or K cup, those sizes include additional lining for even more support where you need it most. The result is a flattering silhouette that feels secure without relying on heavy padding.

The only catch is that it's designed specifically for fuller busts, so sizing starts at a D cup.

Most Comfortable Bra With Support

Natori Bliss Perfection Bra

Pros

  • Seamless under clothing
  • Great everyday bra
  • Provides a great balance between comfort and support

Cons

  • Hand wash only

The Natori Bliss Perfection Bra nails the perfect balance of comfort and structure. It feels light and flexible but keeps everything perfectly lifted and in place. No readjusting needed halfway through the day. That's thanks to the stretchy fabric, fully adjustable straps and band, and the strong yet plush underwire.

The smooth microfiber fabric (a nylon and spandex blend) feels buttery-soft against the skin, with just enough stretch to move as you do. Even the lace trim—sometimes a red flag for irritation—is whisper-smooth and lies flat under clothes. And while there’s an underwire, it’s so well-cushioned that it supports without poking or digging.

It’s the only underwire bra I don’t rip off the second I get home. It’s really the only bra I reach for when I head to the office or if I’m wearing a top that requires a little more lift and support for that flattering look. Style-wise, it looks as good as it feels. The lightly-lined cups create a natural, rounded shape that disappears under everything from fitted tees to silk blouses, and the smooth band keeps the silhouette seamless.

Our only con? It’s handwash only. I tried washing mine in a mesh laundry bag the first time it needed a clean, and while it wasn’t destroyed, it definitely pilled a bit.

Best For Small Busts

Journelle Victoire Plunge Bra

Victoire Plunge Bra

Pros

  • Natural, flattering fit for smaller busts
  • Smooth coverage under clothing
  • Versatile plunge neckline with gentle lift

Cons

  • Less supportive for fuller busts

If you have a smaller bust, you don't need a ton of padding to get a flattering fit—and the Journelle Victory Plunge Bra is proof. It's my top pick for A- to C-cups thanks to its lightly structured, unlined design that hugs your natural shape while disappearing under clothes.

The contoured cups mold to your body for a smooth, comfortable fit, and because they lie completely flat, there's no bunching or gaping to contend with. Despite having zero padding, the cups still provide full nipple coverage, so you get a sleek look under even the clingiest T-shirts without adding extra bulk.

I also appreciate that the plunge neckline works under just about everything, from V-necks to lower-cut tops, while the underwire offers just enough lift to create a naturally rounded shape. The result is polished and supportive without looking overly structured.

The only drawback is that it's best suited to smaller busts, as it doesn't offer the level of coverage or support many fuller busts need. But it is available up to a G cup if you’d like to try it out yourself.

Pros

  • Buttery-soft and stretchy
  • Band is wideand smooth
  • Doesn’t pinch

Cons

  • Not super supportive for movement

If you love a deep V-neckline but hate when your bra peeks out, meet your new go-to: the Harper Wilde Bliss Triangle Bralette. It’s made with a flattering plunge that stays supportive and hidden under low-cut tops and dresses. I’ve worn it under everything from wrap dresses to tanks, and it disappears under all of them. The triangle shape gives a natural lift—no wires, no padding, just your boobs but sliiightly perkier.

Comfort-wise, it lives up to the name. The modal fabric is buttery-soft and stretchy in that live-in-it kind of way. The band is wide and smooth, so it stays put without digging, and the adjustable straps let you customize the fit. It’s also lightweight enough to forget you’re even wearing it

It’s become my go-to for daily wear, and the super-soft, barely-there material is truly the next best thing to going bra-free. While it’s equally great for bed-rotting or taking Zoom calls from home, I also feel confident wearing it out and about because it doesn’t skimp on coverage and offers just enough support.

Even without padding, the double-layered fabric gives solid nipple coverage. It comes in inclusive sizes and neutral shades that go with everything. The one con? It’s not super supportive for heavy movement or fuller busts, so you may need to readjust on the go. But for everyday wear, especially with low-cut outfits, it fits the bill.

What to Consider

What Material Is Best for a Bra?

The most comfortable bras usually come down to the right blend of fabrics. Here’s what each one brings to the table:

  • Nylon: This ultra-smooth, lightweight fabric is known for its softness and breathability. It creates a sleek feel against the skin and holds up well over time, making it perfect for everyday bras.
  • Spandex: Often blended into bra fabrics for stretch, spandex gives bras their ability to move with you. It adds flexibility without losing shape, which means no pinching, gaping, or awkward adjusting throughout the day. It makes a bra feel more adaptive to your body. It’s the key to that snug-but-not-too-tight fit, helping everything stay in place without squeezing or digging in.
  • Polyamide: Similar to nylon, polyamide is soft, breathable, and incredibly durable. It resists pilling and wear, and has a silky finish that feels luxurious while still being practical for daily wear.
  • Cotton: Cotton is soft and breathable. It’s especially great for sensitive skin or warmer weather since it’s naturally breathable and gentle. It’s also a good option for bralettes if you want a minimizer bra for wearing around the house.

Does My Bra Need Underwire?

Comfort is about more than just size—it’s also about ensuring the wire doesn’t create pressure points or cause discomfort throughout the day. Look for bras with flexible, padded, or cushioned underwires, which offer support without digging into your skin. The underwire should sit flat against your ribcage and follow the natural curve of your breasts. If it feels like it’s poking or shifting, it’s not the right fit. If you prefer a wire-free bra, opt for styles with flexible boning, molded cups, and wide, flexible bands to provide support.

How to Find Your Bra Size

The most accurate way to find your size is to get fitted in person. Once you have your size, your new bra should feel snug and secure. The band should be comfortably tight, but not dig into the skin. A good rule of thumb is that you should be able to fit two fingers between the band and your skin, but no more. The cups should also lie flat against your chest.

How We Chose

The Women’s Health team has been testing bras since we first wrote this story in 2023. To find the most comfortable options, our team wore each style for at least a few weeks at a time. We wore them under different circumstances, including workouts, lounging, and long days at the office. But our main criteria for each bra was comfort. I also spoke with two bra experts and personally tested 20-plus bras for the past two years to lock down the ones I actually wear on repeat. I recently re-tested a bunch of options and tapped style contributor Lily Wohlner for an update to this story to boost our list and keep it up-to-date. The final guide includes everything from bralettes, seamless bras, to push-up bras—and I actually wear all of them in my day-to-day life.

While evaluating the bras we tested for this story, we considered the following:

  • Comfort: The most important question we asked ourselves during our wear tests was: Is this bra comfortable? We thought about whether we would wear the bra all day, or if it felt like a relief to take it off. While wearing each bra, we also took note of how the wires and straps felt on our skin (did they pinch, roll, or dig in?).
  • Material: We prioritized bras with a blend of materials like nylon, spandex, polyamide, and cotton. Bras with ample stretch, breathability, and a smooth feel against our skin became our finalists.
  • Coverage: We paid attention to how much coverage each bra offered and whether it offered the right balance of support under different tops. We noted how well the cups contained movement without gaping, spillage, or visible lines.
  • Fit: We evaluated each bra for the accuracy of the sizing chart and whether it runs large or small. We considered how it felt throughout the day (did the straps slip, was the band tight, were there any awkward gaps?). We looked for a secure, second-skin feel.
